I know you guys have been wanting something new to play for a while, so get the beta, get on the dev server, and get fragging!

Depending on how this "rolling beta" thing works out, Flak will likely more to a more dynamic updating method such as this. The "final" RC131 will now more than likely by the "final" 88 Flak v1.27, at which point we will more to a non-RC version system that makes more sense (v1.28, v1.29, etc.)

-- Removed the FOV options; FOV is now handled directly by JFLP based on your screen aspect ratio.


Is this the FOV when turning in differant ships? If so PLEASE PLEASE put it back, I DISLIKE the capital ships turn camara when it swings so freaking wide that you have no idea were the nose of your ship is pointing anymore.

"Wide camera turning with Capitals" is the option for that

If you have tried to download the beta and it did not download correctly, please try again. The final size should be 39.3MB. I started uploading it as I was writing the topic, because I figured most people wouldn't see it until after the upload was done (I was headed out the door). Guess I was mistaken. ;)

Again, if any of you have widescreen monitors, please take screenshots of the game running in widescreen. Again, please note you may need to manually set your resolution in PerfOptions.ini (under [Display] near the bottom), and that the HUD (and FOV?) will not be set until you have launched.

Edit: Oh, and challenge system feedback would be nice too, but keep in mind that they are probably impossible solo. I designed these systems for the hardcore players who don't have anything else to do in PvE, literally under the design philosohpy of "doesn't matter how hard it is, people will beat it." Your milage using AI Companions may vary (you could try taking four dreadnought bots in), but the challenges are really banking on players respawning on Player Carriers within the system, which the AI Companion can't really do (I'm looking into respawning wingmen though).

Widescreen broke itself... the JFLP native system has never worked properly with 1366x768 though, always had to manually configure it...

Oh, and freelancer.exe is still in RC130 mode

Ah, poop, I forgot to change the alternate EXEs. Activate the mod with default view distances, and it will work. Sorry 'bout that.

ok i had a fresh install..added the new beta!! gobla server thingy came up andtheres no Beta server listed !! Jays is still there. but obvesly cant click on it.. and ideas??

ah, just in case if anyone wanna try but were clueless because I didn't explain well enough:

1. open freelancer's game folder -> EXE -> Misc
2. unzip the "Tools fox needs to make Flak sexy.zip"
3. unzip the "ResHack.zip"
4. execute the program "ResHacker.exe"
5. go to open tab, select the freelancer.exe
6. make sure the FILEVERSION and PRODUCTVERSION agrees with flserver.exe; in this specific case it would be 88,27,0,131 (it was 130 before)
7. save file, and go make your own 131 server :D

I haven't touched Alaska at all. The jump hole still exists, it is just very hard to find. Tip: look below the level plane.

How the hell do we even get to the challenge systems? I have heard they're in Alaska, locked. I want to GO KILL THEM!

Are they restricted to certain classes of ships? IE: Fighters only, SC's only, etc.
